India’s 71st Independence
Day was celebrated by Sarvanaman Vidya Mandir with great enthusiasm and due
patriotic fervour. The chief guest – Mr. Khumansinh Vansiya, ex-minister of
Gujarat, was accompanied by the school principal and members of school
management as he hoisted the national flag. School principal Mr. Govind Borade
welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries who graced the occasion.
Cultural activities were held and the gathering was treated with spectacular
musical feats. Speeches by a student and a teacher not only glorified the
unsung heroes of Indian struggle for independence, but also threw light on
various tasks to be undertaken by the present students who are the future
citizens of the country. The programme concluded with the speech by the chief
guest who spoke to the gathering about the sanctity of the occasion and the
role to be played by the youth in furthering the development of independent
India.
