Ganeshotsav
Celebration
Ganeshotsav is the festival that has transformed into one of the biggest, most opulent, glittering fiesta drawing lakhs of devotees and tourists, with the biggest celebrations held across regions where Lord Ganesh has for generations been a reigning deity. As such, whole of the SVM fraternity was shifted into a festive gear with the arrival of idols of the elephant-headed Lord Ganesh for the five-day long Ganeshotsav on Tuesday, August 25, 2017.

Pandal – site for installation of idol of Lord Ganesha was decorated with pleasant lightings. The installation of Idol of Lord Ganesha was preceded by procession accompanied with beats of sound system. Students danced with enthusiasm and zeal to the beats of traditional instruments like drums and trumpets to welcome the Lord Ganesha. The last day of Ganeshotsav Celebration was observed with special Pooja and Worship. Immersion was carried out peacefully and lord Ganesha bid adieu to everyone and blessed us till he visits next year.

The school management has pitched in to prevent outbreak of swine flu in the campus. Evidently, ayurveda has got major role to increase immunity of the people against this H1N1 Virus. It is now evident that the traditional medicinal plants possess various medicinal properties and are highly effective to treat virus borne diseases. In herbal extracts of herbs shows antimicrobial activities, remove toxins from blood and boost the immunity. These herbs rejuvenate and give longevity to the body. Hence the school has started distribution of the ayurvedic decoction in the premises to every student. This decoction, prepared under care and guidance of P. Sahaj Didi, contains the immuno-modulators that helps to escalate immunity to fight against H1N1 Virus. The Mentor didis make sure that each student has her regular intake of the ayurvedic decoction at stipulated time.

Inter-house Drama Competition

Dramatics is one of the essential skills that students have to develop for adequate grooming of their personality. It requires excellent co-ordination, ability to transcend into different personality and distinct expressions through which the concept and effect is transferred to the spectators. The school organized an inter-house drama competition on 19th August, 2017 where students of all the four houses displayed their dramatic skills. The four dramas presented subsequently on the theme of Women Empowerment unfolded the multifold role played by women and her multidimensional contribution towards society. The spectators were made to ponder over the prevalent gaps in understanding the potential and position of women in our society.

Inter House Poster Making Competition

Social Science is a subject which is better learnt by doing rather than reading. And hence, on the evening of 18th of August, students of the classes VI to X, representing their Houses, came to the school auditorium to participate in a poster -making competition.
The students had brought in a variety of ideas in their creative minds. They were provided with white sheets and colours to put their ideas on work. The creative hands got to work and within the stipulated time they came out with some innovative works of art which were very interesting incorporating various themes together. Themes for the competition were related to topics of Social Sciences as the water cycle, the structure of earth, the solar system, saving environment and so on.

Janmashtmi Celebration

Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with sheer enthusiasm at the school. The morning assembly partook an air of Krishna spirit. Soul-touching speeches and a video clip displayed did remind to the spectators the importance of ‘Janmashtmi’ and its place in Indian social fabric and cultural texture. Competitions like Matki Decoration marked the jovial spirit of the day.

India’s 71st Independence Day was celebrated by Sarvanaman Vidya Mandir with great enthusiasm and due patriotic fervour. The chief guest – Mr. Khumansinh Vansiya, ex-minister of Gujarat, was accompanied by the school principal and members of school management as he hoisted the national flag. School principal Mr. Govind Borade welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries who graced the occasion. Cultural activities were held and the gathering was treated with spectacular musical feats. Speeches by a student and a teacher not only glorified the unsung heroes of Indian struggle for independence, but also threw light on various tasks to be undertaken by the present students who are the future citizens of the country. The programme concluded with the speech by the chief guest who spoke to the gathering about the sanctity of the occasion and the role to be played by the youth in furthering the development of independent India.
